Teen killed, another critically injured in plane crash
Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said the plane went down at around 6:30 p.m. south of County Road I near 22 1/2 Street. The two-passenger aircraft was found in the Red Cedar River.

The teen who died was a senior at Chetek-Weyerhaeuser High School, Fitzgerald said. The other teen is a senior at nearby Cameron High School, and he was taken to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester with serious injuries, the sheriff said.

Authorities said Knutson was piloting the two-seater fixed wing single-engine plane. Authorities said the plane took off from a private air strip south of Chetek.
