Sentencing set for Casper teen convicted in fatal crash

A judge will decide Jessica Carnline's sentence July 10 in Natrona County District Court. In April, Carnline pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide for killing Brandon Avery and Amanda Strickland Sept. 21.  

Two dead, one injured in crash at Wyoming Medical Center

The crash, which occurred shortly before 7 p.m., closed Second Street from Wilson to Washington streets in both directions. Casper police Capt. Steve Freel said the street will likely be blocked off for much of the night as investigators work the scene. A green Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling east on Second Street when it crashed into the hospital. The large concrete columns near the corner of the hospital were damaged in the wreck. Brandon Avery and Amanda Strickland, both 27, died in the car crash, Casper police Capt. Steve Freel said. Police are not releasing the name of the third person, an underage girl, who is hospitalized at Wyoming Medical Center. Freel said her current condition is stable.  

Investigation continues in Wyoming hospital crash

The investigation will look at toxicology of the people involved, measurements of the scene and condition of the vehicle, Freel said. Freel said toxicology tests are routine in investigating such accidents. "We're not saying we expect it was a portion of it, but it's an area we have to look at," he said.

Victims Identified In Fatal Crash At Wyoming Medical Center

The third person involved is a juvenile female, who is reported to be in stable condition, with unknown injuries at Wyoming Medical Center. Police have not yet determined who the driver of the vehicle was and are still investigating possible contributing factors, that led to the crash.

No hospital staff were injured. Casper police are working to identify the victims and the cause of the crash, but there were few witnesses to the incident. Anyone who saw the crash is asked to call the police station at 307-235-8278. The emergency entrance is closed until further notice, but ER remains open and can be accessed by the parking lot located between Conwell and Wilson streets, east of the hospital.
