A 7-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was hit by a car in Central Minnesota on Monday morning. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 21900 block of County Road 7 in St. Augusta around 7:26 a.m. Monday on a report of a crash. According to the sheriff, the boy was crossing the street to get onto a school bus when he was hit by a 2004 Pontiac Bonneville driven by 60-year-old Margaret Hartnick of St. Augusta. The school bus was southbound on County Road 7 and was picking up three kids at that address, and the Pontiac was heading northbound.

Two cars were totaled but no one was hurt after a school bus apparently lost control on icy roads in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning. The bus was carrying 29 students from Jenny Lind Elementary School at the time of the accident. According to a witness on the scene, the bus was going down a hill on Dowling Avenue North near Sixth Street North when it slid into two cars. The two cars involved were totaled and the front arm of the bus was sheared off, our photographer says, but no one was hurt. The students were put on a different bus and taken to school.

We are learning new details after a school bus stolen by a 14-year-old boy crashed into a Roseville gas station Monday morning. The theft happened around 7:50 a.m. while the bus was parked on a side road with the keys inside and running near a Holiday Inn on the corner of Rice Street and Wheelock Parkway in St. Paul, according to police.

A school bus serving the Burnsville Eagan Savage District and a car collided at an intersection Wednesday morning in Burnsville, and the handful of students aboard escaped injury, officials said. The crash occurred shortly before 7 a.m. at Hwy. 13 and County Road 11, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s traffic operations center. One person in the car was slightly hurt but not seriously enough to require hospitalization, the State Patrol said.

A school bus driver was swaying with poor balance and smelling of alcohol when Winona County authorities responded to a crash. The bus, with five children on board, had gone off the wrong side of Fern Valley Road near Altura and crashed into trees. Karl A. Herber, 54, of Rollingstone, Minn., was charged with three counts of drunken driving and child endangerment after registering a .09 blood-alcohol level when tested more than two hours after the crash Tuesday afternoon, the Winona County Chief Deputy.
