A 57-year-old rural Red Wing man died Friday morning after the snowmobile he was driving collided with a pickup. Delbert Hardy was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office. According to a release from Sheriff Scott McNurlin, Hardy was entering Goodhue County Road 3 from the lawn of his home at 25465 County Road 3 when he was struck by an eastbound pickup. Hardy was wearing a helmet. The pickup, which had a plow attached to the front, was driven by Duane Stemmann, 66, also of rural Red Wing. Stemmann wasn't injured, the release said.

A snowmobile accident Saturday claimed the life of a 53-year-old Eagan man, the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office reported. Paul R. Schanno II was operating a 2012 Polaris Rush on a trail north of Savanna Portage State Park about 4:40 p.m. Saturday when he collided with a tree at a curve in the trail. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 30-year-old snowmobiler died after colliding with a train in Brainerd. The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. Sunday on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Line underpass. According to Brainerd Police, Michael Flannigan of Brainerd approached the tracks and attempted to pass in front of an empty coal train. Train operators said they sounded the train horn, but the snowmobile continued and was broadsided by the train. Flannigan died at the scene of the crash. Police say he was wearing a helmet. The crash remains under investigation.

A 22-year-old Maple Grove man died Saturday in a snowmobile crash in north-central Minnesota, authorities said. According to a statement from the Todd County Sheriff’s Office released Sunday: Authorities received a report of a missing man at 11:23 a.m. Saturday. Friends of Jared Wallenfelsz said they had last seen him driving a snowmobile away from his family’s cabin on Long Lake about 1:30 a.m. that morning.

A 51-year-old man from Buffalo, Minn., was killed in a snowmobile crash over the weekend. According to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Craig Peitz was on a trail parallel to Endicott Avenue Northwest in Silver Creek Township around 3 p.m. Saturday. Officials say Peitz was going southbound on the trail when he came over a hill, hit a snow crest and was thrown from the snowmobile. Peitz was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The incident is still under investigation by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
