An allegedly impaired and half-naked woman was arrested Monday after the SUV she was driving slammed into a car at a West Knoxville intersection, leaving a mother and her toddler son seriously injured. Bystanders stopped the alleged drunken driver from fleeing the crash scene.“If I had to sit on her until the police came, that was gonna happen,” said Julie Lapolla. “And she had no bottoms on, she had no underwear on ... she asked me for my pants.”

The names of two men who were involved in a crash on Interstate 81 yesterday, which resulted in one of them being killed, have been released.

James C. Hoover, 54, Stone Park, Illinois, received fatal injuries after being ejected. His passenger, Jackson David Meadows, 45, Knoxville, received non-life threatening injuries.

The funeral for a popular air show pilot who died in a plane crash over the weekend will be held Monday at the Fargo Air Museum.

Jim “Fang” Maroney died Sunday when he crashed his plane into the side of a mountain south of Knoxville, Tenn., in the Cherokee National Forest.

It took crews some time to recover his body, but it has been retrieved and it will be sent to Fargo on Friday, said Dick Walstad, co-chairman of the Fargo AirSho.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. at the Fargo Air Museum, 1609 19th Ave. N., Walstad said.
