Jason Pertzborn was riding his snowmobile om Trail #12 at around 6:30 p.m. as the sun was beginning to set. He came to a corner in the trail but he was unable to see because of the low setting sun and his vehicle left the trail and struck a tree. He later died from his injuries.

A 49-year-old man from Andover, MN was riding a snowmobile at around 2:30 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a turn and left the trail, hitting some trees. First aid was administered until first responders could arrive with a rescue vehicle to transport him to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital. The man was reportedly in stable condition, but is going to be flown to a Level 1 Trauma Center in Minnesota for further treatment. Alcohol and speed are believed to have been involved in the accident. Incident is still under investigation.

Holtz was riding a snowmobile on Trail 8 near County Road 496 at about 1:00pm when he claims a snowmobile in front of him kicked up snow dust, which caused him to lose control, depart the trail, and strike a tree. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.

A snowmobile driver was killed when his vehicle exited a trail and collided with a tree just after 9 p.m. Tuesday. Donald Stagner, 45, of New Lenox, Illinois, was driving on Trail #7 in Au Train Township when the accident happened as he was rounding a corner. He lost control and the snowmobile hit a tree. Stagner was pronounced deceased at the crash site.

A snowmobiler is dead and another was partially buried in a large avalanche near Mount Crested Butte in Colorado. The Gunnison County coroner says the accident happened Monday close to Kebler Pass. The coroner said Tuesday the victim is not being identified pending notification of relatives. The other snowmobiler was not seriously injured. The Colorado Avalanche Information Center says the avalanche was about 500 feet wide. The center says Monday's death is the ninth nationally this season.
