A nine-year-old girl was seriously injured Thursday morning when she was struck by a taxi while waiting with her brother at a bus stop in District Heights, Md.
Prince George's County Police said the incident was the result of a car accident shortly before 7:55 a.m., when a car hit a taxi near the bus stop. The impact pushed the taxi onto the curb, hitting the girl.
It happened in the 5500 block of Marlboro Pike.
The girl received serious but non-life-threatening injuries.Two adults were also injured, but not seriously.
The driver remained on the scene.
A tractor-trailer overturned in northwest Baltimore after it collided with another vehicle on Reisterstown Road early Sunday, police said.
The truck was headed southbound when the accident occurred at 7:15 am in front of a 7-Eleven convenience store in the 5100 block of Reisterstown Road, near Belvedere Avenue. The tractor-trailer came to rest within a few feet of the store's front door, a 7-Eleven cashier said. A bus stop was also destroyed in crash.
A 49-year-old woman was flown to shock trauma Friday evening after a single-car accident on Ady Road in Dublin.
Dawn Christian Hoerr, of the 500 block of Chestnut Hill Road in Forest Hill, was driving a Kia station wagon south on Route 543 near Heaps School Road around 6:20 p.m., according to the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack.
Witnesses said the car was swerving "all over the road," police said.
The car went off the right shoulder, overturned and went down into a creek that was at least 30 feet off the road, police said.
Gathered in front of Lee Mahoney's longtime home on Chesapeake Drive, her family balanced their grief with fond memories of the 73-year old matriarch who died in a freak accident.
"She raised generations of kids. She always helped everybody. Anybody who needed her---she was always there, and she was a really wonderful person and she's going to be really missed by everybody," said Jessica Turner, one of her granddaughters.
