Multi-vehicle accidents shut down the New Jersey Turnpike in both directions Wednesday morning. The first accident involved a tractor-trailer, a tanker and two cars happened around 8:20 a.m. Both the tractor-trailer and tanker are overturned. Northbound lanes of the turnpike are shut down near exit 3 in Cherry Hill. Drivers can take 295 as an alternate route. The second accident happened about an hour after the first on the southbound lanes of the turnpike in Cherry Hill. It also involved an overturned tractor-trailer.

Police in New Jersey are investigating a freak accident that killed the driver of a tractor-trailer Tuesday morning. The tragic accident happened on Route 31 at West Delaware Avenue in Pennington, Mercer County. According to investigators, a flat-bed tractor-trailer was hauling long beams of structural steel when the weight shifted, sending the beams into the cab of the tractor-trailer. Authorities say the driver of the tractor-trailer was struck by the steel and was killed. The identity of the driver was not immediately released.

Police say a drunk driver crashed into a popular Atlantic City bar over the weekend.

Donald Preston Jr., 56, of Pleasantville allegedly crashed his SUV through the front of the Irish Pub on the 100 block of St. James Place around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The owner of the pub told police that Preston was inside the bar prior to the crash and was visibly intoxicated.

Rescue crews are on the scene in Irvington, New Jersey where a car has crashed into a Pathmark supermarket.

At least three people were injured in the accident that took place on Lyons Avenue.

The condition of the driver was not immediately clear.

A driver was injured after a train and a car collided in South Jersey early Wednesday morning.

The crash happened at about 10:45 a.m. at Haddon Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard in Camden.

According to New Jersey Transit officials, a River Line train was returning to the rail yard when it came in contact with a car.

The driver of the car complained of neck and back pain and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

There were no passengers aboard the train and the train’s driver was not injured.

A bus went down an embankment off of I-80 in Roxbury Township, New Jersey. New Jersey State Police are on the scene assessing the situation. There were at least six people aboard the bus at the time of the crash. The extent of their injuries is not yet known. A tractor trailer jackknifed at this same location, but no injuries were reported.

Authorities believe the pilot of a single-engine plane was trying to reach an airport in dense fog and rain when the aircraft crashed on a wooded hilltop near the Delaware River in New Jersey. The pilot, 71-year-old Joseph Borin of Readington Township, died in the crash. He was the only person on board. The Hunterdon County Prosecutor says people reported hearing what sounded like a plane crash around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Authorities say a northern New Jersey man was killed when the all-terrain vehicle he was driving struck a parked car. Plainfield police stated that 21-year-old Piscataway resident Andrew Taylor was killed in the crash, which occurred around 8:15 p.m. Monday in the area of Central Avenue and Ninth Street. Authorities say Taylor was operating the vehicle illegally and was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later. No other injuries were reported in the accident, which remains under investigation.

Icy conditions made for dangerous and deadly driving in New Jersey and parts of New York this morning as at least 2 people died in dozens of accidents.

One person was killed after a motor vehicle crashed into a Philadelphia-bound New Jersey Transit bus in Pine Hill just after 7 a.m.

A New Jersey Transit spokesman says the bus operator told officials the car was approaching the bus from the other side of the road when it spun out of control and struck the front of the bus.

Icy conditions made for dangerous and deadly driving in New Jersey and parts of New York this morning as at least 2 people died in dozens of accidents. One person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the Beaver Dam bridge in Brick, New Jersey, authorities said. The driver of the car was killed and a passenger was seriously injured. No names have been released.
