A local man says a driver nearly killed him as he was trying to cross the street in West Palm Beach.
Michael Thornhill, 28, said he was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Military Trail and Westgate Avenue early Saturday morning.
It happened so quickly that Thornhill said he did not even know what hit him.
"Next thing I know I woke up on the ground, bleeding out of my head and my leg and in a lot of pain," he said.
Thornhill said he sustained a shattered heal, road rash all over his back, and a gash in his head; now held together by two staples.
One person is dead and two others injured after a car struck a pole near the intersection of Okeechobee Boulevard and Baywinds Drive in West Palm Beach.
The single-vehicle crash happened just after 6 a.m. Sunday.
Two people were airlifted to St. Mary's Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
A woman who was seriously injured Friday evening in a motorcycle crash has died from her injuries.
The motorcycle accident occurred near the intersection of Coconut and Northlake boulevards in suburban West Palm Beach, said Captain Albert Borroto, spokesman for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.
The driver, 60-year-old Shari Lynn Carney, was in the far left U-turn lane and struck the raised curb of the center grass median, according to PBSO.
Emergency crews responded a few minutes before 9 p.m. to reports of a motorcycle crash and found Carney lying in the roadway.

A deadly crash on Boynton Beach Boulevard near the Florida Turnpike has shut down both the east and westbound lanes of the boulevard.
Traffic investigators say a Jeep driven by Clarence Stalsworth of Sevierville, Tennessee struck the rear of a Chrysler driven by Anthony Distefano of Boca Raton.
Both vehicles were traveling westbound on Boynton Beach Boulevard and were approaching Orchid Grove Trial, just east of the Turnpike.
The Chrysler ended up on the grass on the north side of the road.
Investigators say the man behind the wheel of a monster-sized rolling crane took the right turn from Palm Beach’s post-card-perfect Royal Palm Way and headed in Worth Avenue’s direction not knowing that he had struck a pedestrian as he did it.
The pedestrian’s body got caught in the crane’s second set of front tires and dragged half a block. Police identified the pedestrian as James Brennan, 68, of West Palm Beach.
Nine people, including one with serious injuries, were taken to area hospitals this afternoon after a Palm Tran bus was struck from behind by a dump trunk, a spokesman for West Palm Beach Fire Rescue said.
The crash happened at around 4:30 p.m. near 45th Street and Broadway. It resulted in minor damage to the bus and the truck, said a Fire Rescue spokesman.
Those injured were taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital and West Palm Hospital. Eight had minor injuries, the fire dept. said.
