A 40-year-old woman was killed early this morning in a single-car crash in Bedford County, state police said. Beth Ann Morris was driving east on state Route 30 at Mount Dallas Road in Snake Spring Township when she lost control and struck a rock embankment at about 3:16 a.m., a news release said. Ms. Morris, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained severe head injuries and was taken to UPMC Bedford Memorial, where she was pronounced dead.

Two northern Dauphin County residents were severely injured in a car crash Sunday morning. State police said a car driven by Aaron Lee Esch, 24, backed out of a driveway along Route 225 in Mifflin Township and was facing south while in the northbound lane. According to police, Esch, of Dornsife, tried to merge into the southbound lane but turned in front of a southbound vehicle which collided with the passenger side of his vehicle. Both vehicles then hit a utility pole, resulting in downed power lines.

A total of five people were injured and taken to a trauma center Saturday after a single-vehicle crash in Upper Allen Township, according to township police.

The crash took place shortly after 9 p.m. in the 800 block of McCormick Road, according to an Upper Allen Township Police Department press release. The 18-year-old Shiremanstown resident who was driving the vehicle, along with four passengers, were all taken to the Hershey Medical Center for injuries, according to police.

A 16-year-old is in trouble with the law after Upper Allen Township police in Cumberland County say the teen fled the scene of a crash and was driving under the influence. Police responded to a hit-and-run crash around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday along the 1700 block of North Meadow Drive. "The striking vehicle fled the scene and was located by police several blocks away. The 16 year old juvenile driver admitted to having been driving at a high rate of speed, causing the vehicle to strike a curb which caused property damage and disabling damage to the vehicle," a police news release states.

Route 272 in Lancaster County near Willow Street is open following a fatal crash early Monday involving mules and three vehicles.

The crash happened about 6 a.m. Monday when two mules were struck in the southbound lanes just south of Willow Street.

The vehicle that struck the mules crossed into the northbound lanes and was hit by two vehicles.

The 19-year-old male driver of the vehicle that struck the mules was killed. One of mules was killed and the other was injured and later put down.

A Mechanicsburg teenager was arrested Thursday night after police in Upper Allen Township said the 16-year-old was found driving under the influence of drugs in a hit-and-run crash. The incident occurred around 8:25 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Meadow Drive. A BMW Sedan, which was located by police several blocks away, struck a curb and caused property damage in the area of the crash. The sedan also sustained disabling damage in the incident.

Weather is to blame for an accident on Interstate 79 near Zelienople, where two good Samaritans came to a man's aid.

Chris Zona was traveling home to New Castle Tuesday. Just before 5 p.m., in a steady rain, Zona found himself upside down and crawling out of his driver's-side window.

Some drivers saw Zona's car go airborne.

A medical assistant and a nurse, in separate vehicles, both stopped to help.

Carney said they had been waiting more than 30 minutes for an ambulance to arrive.

Ephrata police have identified an 83-year-old woman who died Monday after a one-vehicle crash.

Vivian Crowther drove her car off the road in the 700 block of Oak Boulevard and struck a tree, police said.

Two separate crashes left police officers in two different counties hospitalized. And in both cases, the drivers were possible intoxicated. The first wreck left a Bensalem police officer hurt after her police cruiser was hit by a van on Sunday night in Lower Southampton Township. Lower Southampton police confirmed to NBC10 that the officer was involved in the crash at Brownsville and Old Street Road around 7:30 p.m. The officer was taken to Aria Torresdale hospital with neck and back pain.

The driver of an SUV died Sunday after rear-ending a PennDOT snow plow truck on Interstate 79 in Mercer County, Pennsylvania State Police said. State police and the Mercer County coroner have yet to release the name of the driver whose Chevrolet Tahoe drove into the southbound plow just after 7 p.m. SUV crashed into the plow at mile marker 119 in Findley. Troopers said the vehicle caught fire and spun around after rear-ending the plow. A deputy coroner pronounced the driver dead at the scene. State police said the PennDOT driver wasn’t hurt.
