One person died Sunday morning after a wrong-way driver collided with a vehicle in the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 near west suburban Darien, state police said. The crash happened about 5:30 a.m. on southbound I-55 at Lemont Road, said Illinois State police. One person, of an unknown age and gender, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. It was not immediately known if there were any other injuries.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says a Metro-North passenger train derailment in New York City has left four people dead and 63 injured. Cuomo spoke Sunday morning at the scene of the crash in the Bronx. He says authorities believe everyone at the site has been accounted for and that the National Transportation Safety Board is en route. Cuomo says the train operator is among the injured. The crash was reported at 7:20 a.m. near the Spuyten Duyvil station. The southbound Hudson Line train from Poughkeepsie was headed to Grand Central Terminal.

Elizabeth Arellano Renteria, 21, and Hilda Marisol Medrano, 21 of Okeechobee are dead tonight after a fatal, deputy-involved car crash happened just after 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, said a spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol.

A Pittsfield woman was killed early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Canaan Road, the Massachusetts State Police reported. Shortly after midnight, troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Lee were dispatched a single-vehicle crash near 151 Canaan Road. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Amy Cavanaugh, 36, died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Families and friends are mourning the loss of four Warren County High School seniors killed in a fiery car crash overnight Saturday on Viola Road. They are grappling with the burdensome question: How do you say goodbye to sons, a daughter, siblings, friends - all teenagers gone too soon. Kaimen Collins 17, Dominique Pinegar, Christopher Frazier and Shanna Seiderer were out playing tag. All four died in the crash that occurred late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

A 26-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Gresham, police said. Just after 7 a.m., Nichole Anstaett rolled her car after clipping the back of another car that was turning on Southeast Orient Drive near Southeast Salquist Road, said a spokesman with the Gresham Police Department. Anstaett was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from her car. She was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured in the crash. Gresham police's crash team was continuing its investigation. Police have not said if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.

A 40-year-old woman was killed early this morning in a single-car crash in Bedford County, state police said. Beth Ann Morris was driving east on state Route 30 at Mount Dallas Road in Snake Spring Township when she lost control and struck a rock embankment at about 3:16 a.m., a news release said. Ms. Morris, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained severe head injuries and was taken to UPMC Bedford Memorial, where she was pronounced dead.

Two northern Dauphin County residents were severely injured in a car crash Sunday morning. State police said a car driven by Aaron Lee Esch, 24, backed out of a driveway along Route 225 in Mifflin Township and was facing south while in the northbound lane. According to police, Esch, of Dornsife, tried to merge into the southbound lane but turned in front of a southbound vehicle which collided with the passenger side of his vehicle. Both vehicles then hit a utility pole, resulting in downed power lines.

The National Weather Service says the bad weather brought down a power line in Kailua. It happened around 9:30 Sunday morning and a young man was injured. The 22-year-old saw his van on fire and tried to put the fire out. That's when trouble began. The quiet of a Sunday morning on Ohana Avenue was shattered when residents heard a loud explosion. A power line split both ends of the live wire which caused considerable damage. Fortunately, he was not. The young man was taken to Castle Medical Center in critical condition and was later transferred to Queen's.

The Fishers Police Department responded to a fatal crash Sunday evening. Officials say the accident occurred on 126th Street just east of SR 37 just before 5 p.m. Sunday A crash team was called to the scene. Officials say the road was closed in that area for about 2 and a half hours. A Chrysler PT Cruiser and a Motorcycle were involved in the crash. Fishers police officials say the driver of the motorcycle was killed in the crash. Initial investigation reveals the PT Cruiser was turning left onto Reynolds Road and the motorcycle was eastbound on 126th Street prior to the crash.
