Gallatin County officials have released the name of a 48-year-old Bozeman man who was struck and killed by a semitrailer while riding a bicycle on a frontage road near Bozeman.

The coroner's office says Kevin Patrick O'Brien died at the hospital after the crash on Wednesday morning. He had previously lived in California.

Police say O'Brien was riding his bike eastbound at 6:35 a.m. Wednesday when he swerved into the roadway in front of a semi. Officers say the driver of the semi was unable to avoid hitting him.

The Jefferson County Sherrif's office released the names of the five people killed in an Thursday crash east of Helena.

Beartooth NBC reports the victims are Crystal Ross, 30; Matthew Boegli, 29; Breighton Boegli,4; and Peighton and Maddison Boegli both age 3.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol the five people were headed west on Highway 12 right around 9:00 p.m. Thursday the 19th. Their truck collided with a Three Forks fire engine headed eastbound.

Both of the vehicles burst into flames. Three Forks Fire Chief Todd Rummel was also killed in the crash.

Cal Erickson Mullen has pleaded not guilty to felony vehicular homicide for a fatal crash near Montana City. He also denied a felony and two misdemeanor counts of negligent vehicular assault. Mullen allegedly had a blood-alcohol level of 0.265 on June 14 when he crashed his pickup truck. He left the truck on the highway and didn't warn oncoming vehicles or report the accident. A vehicle driven by Jason West, 42, struck the pickup. The collision killed 38-year-old Wyman Hewitt and caused severe injuries to 36-year-old Anne Boster, both passengers in West's vehicle.

A 62-year-old Idaho man died when his small ultralight-style aircraft crashed in northwest Montana.

Authorities identified the victim as Cliff Daniels, of Rathdrum, Idaho.

The crash was reported about 7:15 a.m. Saturday at an RV resort near the Polson Airport. No one else was hurt and no RVs damaged.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The county coroner has identified the 15-year-old girl killed in a fiery one-vehicle wreck on Highway 2 near Thompson Park on Thursday as Kelsi Stratford of Butte.

DNA results from the crime lab will confirm that identification, Butte-Silver Bow coroner Lee LaBreche said.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, which occurred about 4 p.m. The roadway is extremely curvy.

Police said Stratford was going to Thompson Park to meet friends. She was a student at Butte High School.

A mother and her three young children were transported to the hospital after the SUV in which they were traveling rolled into a ditch near the intersection of Old Hardin Road and Calamity Jane Boulevard. According to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Justin Moran, the wreck occurred at about 10 p.m. on Saturday as the woman was traveling northbound on Calamity Jane Boulevard and "failed to negotiate a turn in the road."

Yellowstone County officials have released the name of a man who died in a rollover crash on an Interstate 94 frontage road near Pompeys Pillar. The coroner's office tells KULR-TV that 24-year-old Josh Lowe of Custer died early Thursday. The patrol says the crash happened between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. Troopers say Lowe was westbound on Custer Frontage Road when he lost control of his car, overcorrected and rolled the vehicle. Lowe was thrown from the car and died at the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

A sport utility vehicle collided with a minivan in southwestern Montana, killing an Idaho couple in the minivan and injuring the driver of the SUV.

The Montana Highway Patrol says an 80-year-old woman from Ennis was driving an SUV on Norris Road west of Bozeman at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday when her vehicle drifted into the oncoming lane, striking a minivan.

Madison County officials tell the Bozeman Daily Chronicle that 78-year-old Herbert Petersen of Pocatello, Idaho died at the scene while his 75-year-old wife, Jacqueline, died after arriving at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.

A man accused of driving drunk and crashing into a Billings police car Tuesday morning made an initial court appearance Wednesday. Brett Allen Jones, 29, appeared in Yellowstone County Justice Court on charges of felony criminal endangerment and a misdemeanor count of DUI, or an alternate misdemeanor charge of operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level greater than .08 percent. Judge Pedro R. Hernandez set bond at $10,000 and ordered Jones to appeared for arraignment in Yellowstone County District Court on May 2.

A man was killed and another injured after being thrown from a motorcycle near Sidney on Monday night.

The incident occurred at 10:25 p.m. near the intersection of County Road 350 and Holly Street, according to Montana Highway Patrol officials.

The 29-year-old driver and 31-year-old passenger were both from Sidney.

The motorcycle was southbound on County Road 350, when it drifted into the westbound shoulder on a straight stretch of road, officials said.
