3 people seriously injured, transported to hospital, after pickup crashes into 6 vehicles on northbound I-684 near Katonah.
Three Injured in I-684 Accident After Pickup Jumps Guardrail.
Three people were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries Thursday afternoon after a Chevy pickup truck traveling northbound on I-684 crossed the median just north of exit 6 and struck five vehicles in the southbound lane before rolling over and landing on a Subaru, state police said.
The accident occurred around 3:50 p.m. when police said the driver of a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado apparently lost control and jumped guide rail and drove into the oncoming traffic. After it came to rest on top of a 2001 Subaru all southbound lanes of travel blocked.
Police said that the driver of the Silverado, along with two additional drivers, were taken to area hospitals, including the Westchester County Medical Center, for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Firefighters from Katonah, Croton Falls and Goldens Bridge responded to the accident and help extract two the drivers from their vehicles. I-684’s southbound lanes were closed for approximately two hours during the investigation and cleanup.
Police said what caused the driver of the pickup truck to cross into the southbound lanes is still not clear. The cause of the accident and possible criminal charges are still under investigation.
