It was about 1:40am, when a pickup truck driven by Simmons on Indian Creek Road departed the roadway and ran into a culvert, then a tree. Loftis, who was a passenger in the pickup truck, was pronounced dead at the scene, while Simmons was hospitalized with injuries of unknown severity.
