U.S. 45

A 2005 Ford Econoline van driven by Amy J. Sturms, 31, was halted for an authorized flag person at about 11:05 a.m. Wednesday on U.S. 45, about half a mile north of South Walnut Grove Road. A 2003 Freightliner driven by Christopher F. Jones, 47, was stopped behind her.

An 11-year-old child was killed and seven other people needed medical attention after a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 45 north of Effingham on Sunday afternoon.

Torie M. McMahon, 11, of Toledo was killed in the accident, according to Illinois State Police.
