The girl's father, Matthew Tidwell, was injured along with 6-year-old Ava Tidwell and 4-year-old Mattie Tidwell. There is no word yet on their conditions.

Also, injured were Ava Tidwell, 6, and Mattie Tidwell, 4. They each are in serious condition at the hospital’s pediatric intensive care unit, the spokeswoman said.

According to Huntsville Hospital, Ava and Mattie Tidwell are listed in fair condition following a single-vehicle wreck on Monday night.
Samantha Tidwell, 8, died in a car crash Monday night just after 10 p.m. on Lauderdale 76 about five miles north of Elgin. The girl was a passenger in a car driven by her father, Matthew Ray Tidwell, 32, who was injured along with children Ava Tidwell, 6, and Mattie Tidwell, 4. The vehicle, a 1998 Dodge Diplomat, was traveling west on Lauderdale 76, when it ran off the side of the road and hit a tree. Samantha Tidwell was pronounced deceased at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
