Curtis Summerville, a public information office with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said the accident occurred Saturday at 10:20 p.m. when Franklin fell from a pontoon boat during rough water.

Authorities identify woman who died after boating accident

Authorities have identified a woman killed in a boating accident as a fireworks festival ended in northwest Alabama. Colbert County Coroner Carlton Utley identified the woman as 59-year-old Marie Franklin of Tuscumbia. Florence police said it appears the accident occurred as the fireworks show wrapped up Saturday night for the Spirit of Freedom Celebration.
