Woman in wheelchair hit by SUV, dies

Renold Elder, 63, was booked into the Kern County Jail on suspicion of hit and run with injury, driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter. Police said Elder collided with several parked vehicles in the Wilson Towers parking lot before striking Laquin and pinning her against a cinder block wall.

Motorist pleads not guilty in alleged drunken driving crash that killed woman in wheelchair

Renold Elder, 63, attended the hearing in a wheelchair and looked down as he was arraigned. Bail was set at $200,000 and his next court hearing scheduled for Sept. 18.
Laquin died on Monday morning. So far Elder has plead not guilty to charges of driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter. His next court hearing is on September 18th.
