Speeding may be to blame for a crash in Woodland Hills that left three people hospitalized Saturday, police said.

The crash took place about 7 p.m. in the 2000 block of Hatteras Street, a residential area, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Police said a black sedan lost control, drove up onto an embankment and crash landed into a freeway sign pole.

Police and witnesses said the sedan may have been racing another car.

Three people were taken to the hospital, where they were all in fair condition, the LAFD said.

A couple in their 50s, possibly passengers in the wrecked car, were among the injured.

Residents who live near the crash site say speeding is a problem in the neighborhood.

"There's always racing down the block," said one neighbor. "They're always going down the hill really fast."
