The collision happened about 2:20 a.m. on Jamboree Road, between Main Street and Kelvin Avenue, the Irvine Police Department said in a statement.

Officers and firefighter-paramedics responded to the scene, where the two female occupants of a Chevrolet Corvette were pronounced dead. They were later identified as Jamie R. Lopez, 26, of Santa Ana, and Nancy A. Ortiz, 26, of Garden Grove.

Man charged with murder for Irvine crash that killed 2 passengers

Prosecutors allege that Martin was driving a Chevrolet Corvette at speeds of up to 138 miles per hour shortly before 2:30 a.m. when he ran a red light and struck the crown of the intersection.
