UPDATE: Driver Who Fled From Deadly Peninsula Crash is Caught, CHP Says
The collision was initially reported at 6:57 p.m. on Highway 84 near Sylvan Way in unincorporated San Mateo County, according to the CHP. Investigators believe a 1992 Honda was traveling east on the highway when a 2001 Ford F-250 pickup truck traveling north crossed the double yellow lines into the eastbound lane, causing the two vehicles to collide, CHP officials said.

Doane remained in the hospital until Monday night when he was booked into jail on $1 million bail, District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
He pleaded not guilty at an arraignment this afternoon to vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run charges, prosecutors said.

A three-day preliminary hearing concluded Friday with San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Elizabeth Hill ruling enough evidence exists to try Tom Shelton Doane on felony counts of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run, said District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.
