Pleasanton: I-580 crash causes two deaths, brush fire

The crash happened about 11 p.m. Tuesday when the car hit a sport utility vehicle while traveling at high speed on eastbound I-580 near the San Ramon Road exit, according to the California Highway Patrol. The car went 50 feet down an embankment, hit a tree and burst into flames.

One of two people killed in Pleasanton crash last week identified

The Alameda County Coroner's Office has identified 19-year-old Demondre Harrison as one of the victims. A woman in the car who was killed in the crash off eastbound Interstate 580 on Sept. 16 has not been identified.
The crash caused a small brushfire, police said Wednesday, but firefighters were able to quickly put out the blaze. The occupants of the SUV hit by the crashed car, which included small children, were not hurt. Police are trying to find secondary ID numbers on the car, since all that was left of the car is a charred frame and destroyed license plates.  To identify the woman in the burned car, coroner's officials will need to make a DNA comparison to her relatives, a process that could take weeks
