He collided with a roadway-marking sign and a tree. Fire officials say the crash site was not found until Sunday afternoon.

Santa Barbara authorities were notified of the incident that night, but were unable to locate Newsam’s car until around noon the next day.

For unknown reasons he failed to navigate a curve in the road and veered down a steep embankment late Saturday night. He collided with a roadway marking sign and a tree. Fire officials say the crash site was not found until Sunday afternoon. The car was located 30 feet down an embankment near the top of San Marcos pass.
