Person Struck by DC Metro Train at Mt. Vernon Square Station

A DC Metro spokesperson said a person was struck by a train at the Mount Vernon Square station Sunday afternoon.

The Mount Vernon Square Metro Square Station at 7th Street NW and the Convention Center is temporarily closed as authorities investigate a person struck by a train.

Man believed to be intentionally in the way hit by Metro train at Mt. Vernon Square

A Metro official says it appears he was intentionally in the way of the train. The man was not immediately identified.
The accident appears to be intentional by the victim. The victim's identity has not been released, but authorities have said it was an adult male. Passengers are encouraged to use the Gallery Place/Chinatown station to avoid delays.
