North Lauderdale crash injures five, one critically

Five people were injured when two cars crashed in North Lauderdale on Wednesday afternoon, a city official said. A bad storm was rolling through North Lauderdale at the time of the wreck. The North Lauderdale Fire Department took one person with critical injuries to Broward Health North in Deerfield Beach; four others suffered minor injuries and were taken to Northwest Medical Center in Margate. A school bus driver witnessed the crash just before 4 p.m. near the intersection of Southgate Boulevard and Southwest 81st Avenue and called for rescue, said Mike Sargis, North Lauderdale assistant city manager. Southgate Boulevard was shut down at Southwest 81st Avenue as crews worked to clear the scene.
