Miami-Dade Police Public Service Aide Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver

Miami-Dade Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck a police public service aide Sunday night. The incident happened shortly before 6:30 p.m. in the area of Southwest 129th Avenue and Southwest 244th Street as the public service aide was conducting a traffic crash investigation. The aide was taken to Kendall Regional Hospital with multiple fractures to his leg and a laceration on his right hand. Police didn't have a description of the driver and said the vehicle w3as either white or light gray. According to police, the 56-year-old aide was standing outside his car when he heard a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.

Miami-Dade police aide hit by car while investigating crash

Detective Jennifer Capote said in a news release that the aide was standing outside his vehicle gathering information Sunday evening when he heard another vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed. He advised the driver of the crashed vehicle to step to the side. That's when he was struck by the oncoming vehicle.
