Osceola deputy injured in crash; Driver faces DUI charge

 Osceola County Sheriff's deputy was injured early Saturday when another driver crashed into his marked patrol SUV in Orange County, a Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman said. Deputy Christopher Pye, 23, was taken to Osceola Regional Hospital with serious injuries, FHP spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes said. The other driver, 23-year-old Edgar Rodriguez of Kissimmee, was arrested and faces charges of driving under the influence and failing to yield the right of way. Rodriguez was turning left from the southbound lanes of John Young Parkway onto Town Center Boulevard around 2 a.m., Montes said. His Ford E-350 hit the driver's side of Pye's patrol SUV, a Ford Explorer, Montes said.

Drove by this horrible-looking wreck while driving down john young parkway towards orlando at about 4:30 in the morning august 29th. My heart goes out to the officer involved in this crash and his family~ I salute him and all of our brothers and sisters out there who face dangers which we know nothing about.
