LCSO: Fatal Hit and Run in South Leon County Leaves 1 Dead

The Leon County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to the area of Crawfordville Road and Slash Pine Lane around 2:10 a.m. The southbound lane of Crawfordville Road near Slash Pine Lane and Rehwinkle Drive was closed as of 4:45 a.m. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Deputies are investigating a hit and run fatality in south Leon County. LCSO says the incident is currently being investigated as a hit and run fatality. LCSO says traffic in the area is being diverted.

UPDATE: Deputies Make Arrest in Fatal Hit & Run on Crawfordville Highway

The sheriff's office says they received an anonymous tip about the location of a car involved in the crash. That led them to Willie Gandy III. According to deputies, the 56-year-old's car had damage consistent with what was found at the scene. Deputies say Gandy admitted to being involved in the crash and hitting a person.

LCSO Identifies Woman Killed in Hit and Run

Deputies say 38-year-old Stephanie Lindsey was hit in the southbound lane of Crawfordville Road. Her body was found in the roadway. LCSO says the incident is currently being investigated as a hit and run fatality.
