Riverview man killed in wrong-way crash on US 41, FHP says

A Riverview man was killed Thursday night when his car was struck nearly head-on by a wrong-way driver on U.S. 41, troopers say. The Express struck a northbound 2001 Honda Odyssey nearly head-on, killing the driver, Rodney Keith Bell, 32, of Riverview. Alcohol was a factor in the crash, they said. At about 8 p.m., a 2005 Chevy Express driven by Jean Ann Petraits, 56, was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of U.S. 41, north of Bayshore Road, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release. Petraits, of Ruskin, was taken to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition.
