The man was walking on the shoulder of the freeway when the car, a Mazda, veered off the road and hit him, GSP Sgt. Chris Harris said. The car then hit a guard rail, overturned, and came to rest in an upright position.

He was identified as Michael Nease of Kennesaw, Ga.
Charges were pending against the driver of the car that veered off the freeway and struck him - Jordan Shelton.
