Three dead after car crashes into Cottonwood River in Lyon Co.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to a report of an injured teenager walking down the road around 6:30 Saturday evening, when they were led to an accident at the river. The minor was a passenger in the car, and the three other passengers have been pronounced dead.

Rankin’s main focus was jumping into action. At that point, it was unclear whether the people in the car were alive. The car had veered off the road, broke through the wire fence and landed near the bank of the river. Just a few steps deeper, the water depth drops significantly.
