Cody J. Damico, 29, was in a 2010 Pontiac heading east on La. 37 near La. 449 when his car veered left, Master Trooper Greg Marchand said.

The accident happened in the morning, where Damico veered off the left side of the road, collided with a pole, and was thrown from the vehicle as it overturned. Like most crashes where the passengers are ejected, Damico was not wearing a seat belt. After pronouncing him dead at the scene, investigators took a blood sample from Damico for use in a toxicology test.
