Woman dies after being hit by truck as she walks across I-10 in Ascension Parish

Salewski is not suspected of being impaired and was not cited in the crash, police said. It is not known whether Tasker was impaired by drugs or alcohol, and a toxicology sample has been sent to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
April Tasker, 21, was hit by a tractor-trailer and killed Wednesday as she attempted to walk across Interstate 10 in Ascension Parish, Louisiana. The incident occured around 3:00 a.m. when, leaving her vehicle parked on the shoulder near Highway 73, she walked towards the median. Tasker was hit by Wilhelm Salewski, 67, of Dayton, Texas, who was not believed to be impaired at the time of the crash and was not cited. Police are unsure why Tasker attempted to walk across the interstate; a toxicology sample has been sent to the State Police Crime Lab to see if she was impaired by drugs or alcohol.
