One killed in Methuen multi-vehicle crash

One person is dead following a multi-vehicle crash on Route 495 southbound in Methuen on Thursday. At 5:36 p.m., troopers responded to a multi-vehicle crash near Exit 46. The crash involved three vehicles. One person involved in the crash was determined dead at the scene. Traffic was diverted off of I-495 on to Route 213 westbound.

According to police, the vehicle was heading south on Interstate 495, when it veered into the breakdown lane.  Police say the driver tried to turn back, but struck a flatbed tow truck and car in the right lane.
