Oak Park woman helps save newborn from overturned SUV

At home with her 5-year-old daughter, she said it wasn't medic or military training that kicked in. "Being a parent ... go to the end of the world for my daughter," Falcon said. "I got to say it feels good."

Ex-Marine Uses Her Medic Training To Free Newborn From SUV

The televised report says the baby and others in the crash are OK, while Falcon has a burn on her left cheek.
An SUV was rear-ended by a car at Warren and I-75 near a gast station in Detroit. The woman who was driving the SUV began screaming for help, saying her baby was trapped inside of the overturned vehicle. Bystander Teri Falcon of Oak Park witnessed the accident and ran to assist. Medics arrived at the scene, but they were physically too large to be able to reach the baby, who was hanging upside down, strapped in a car seat. Falcon, who served in the Marines and is a trained medic, crawled inside the SUV, lifted the car seat up with one hand and unlatched it with the other. Falcon sustained a small burn to her face while rescuing the baby. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.
