One elderly man was injured Monday afternoon near Dowagiac when he drove into the path of an oncoming car at 1:13 p.m. Leroy Whelan, 87, of Dowagiac, was turning off Indian Lake Road on to Silver Street when he struck the vehicle driven by 54-year-old Boyd Saylor, also from Dowagiac. Whelan was taken to Lakeland Hospital with minor injuries. Saylor's condition was not immediately available.
