Hattiesburg man dies from injuries in last Sunday wreck

Denny was with the Hattiesburg police department for about three years, and his father, Mark, is a lieutenant with 19 years of service.

Off-duty Hattiesburg police officer, Zach Denny, passed away today around 3:00 p.m. from injuries sustained in a car accident last Sunday. The crash occurred early Sunday morning on Highway 49 north in Hattiesburg. Denny suffered a number of injuries including broken ribs, bruised lungs, facial fractures and lacerations. He was taken to Forrest General Hospital where he was in critical, but stable condition. There is ongoing investigation regarding the cause of the wreck.
