A Kansas City man is dead after a wrong-way crash Friday night on Interstate 70 and Highway 40.
A Kansas City man is dead after a wrong-way crash Friday night on Interstate 70 and Highway 40. Police said before 11:30 p.m. a Silver Chevy Malibu entered the highway from an exit ramp and was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-70. A semi-trailer truck was traveling east on I-70 and was unable to avoid the car resulting in a collision. Police said the driver of the car who was impaired by alcohol is in critical condition at an area hospital. According to police, the passenger, 35-year old Karl Silvey, died at the scene. The driver of the semi did not suffer any injuries. As a result of the crash, highway 40 was shut down for nearly four hours. This is the sixth accident fatality of the year, at this time last year there had been five.
