Motorcyclist dead after collision with SUV in Henderson

The eastbound lanes of West Lake Mead Parkway near Fiesta Henderson Road are expected to be closed until about 5:30 p.m., French said. The collision remains under investigation, and the SUV driver is cooperating with police, French said. The motorcyclist was traveling east on Lake Mead when he crashed into an SUV whose driver was heading west on Lake Mead and turning onto Industrial Park Road, French said. An initial investigation determined that the SUV driver failed to yield and that speed by the motorcyclist also appeared to be a factor in the crash, French said. Speed and failure to yield are being blamed for a crash Tuesday afternoon that left a motorcyclist dead, according to an initial police investigation.

Motorcyclist killed in crash with SUV ID'd

The SUV was westbound on Lake Mead Parkway and failed to yield while turning onto Industrial Park Road, Henderson spokeswoman Michelle French said. A man killed in a motorcycle-SUV crash Tuesday afternoon has been identified by the Clark County coroner. Adam Garrett Shields, 25, of Henderson was riding a motorcycle eastbound on Lake Mead Parkway about 2:45 p.m. when he crashed into an SUV that turned in front of him, according to police. The SUV driver's failure to yield and the speed of the motorcycle contributed to the death of Shields, who was taken to Sunrise Hospital before being pronounced dead, according to police. Shields was wearing a helmet, police said.
