Catherine Freyer, 68, died after being struck by a vehicle at 52nd Street and Avenue C in Bayonne, New Jersey

Catherine Freyer, 68, died early this morning from head injuries.  Yesterday evening a pickup truck struck her when she was walking west on 52nd Street and crossing Avenue C. Freyer was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health for "head trauma," and she was pronounced dead at 1:30 a.m. No criminal charges have been filed against the driver of the car, James Johnson Jr., 34, of Bayonne.  The investigation into the incident has been closed.  Johnson was also heading west on 52nd Street and was trying to make a left turn onto Avenue C when he struck the victim.
