Pursuit ends in Nutley crash

Clarence Bowie, 49, of Newark, driver of a maroon pick-up truck, led Newark and Nutley police on a pursuit about 11:54 a.m., authorities said. The pursuit ended when Bowie crashed into five vehicles that had been stopped on the Exit 8 ramp.
Bowie and his female passenger were taken to University Medical Center; there were five injuries total, but none were life-threatening. Bowie was cited for many violations including: driving while New Jersey privileges are suspended, reckless driving, being unlicensed, for unsafe vehicle, for having a bald passenger front tire, for loaded as to spill, for maintenance of lamps for having no visible passenger tail lamp lens or housing on vehicle or found on scene, for unclear plates by having a trailer hitch ball blocking rear plate, and for operating an uninsured vehicle.
