The investigation determined that the vehicle driven by Martinez was northbound on South Avenue D at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of 18th and D. After passing the stop sign Martinez’s vehicle collided with the vehicle driven by Fernandez.

Martinez told Sanchez she had had one drink before driving, a “lemonade alcoholic shooter drink,” about 7 p.m., court records show.
