Driver Killed in 30-Foot Plunge Off Westchester Bridge, Racing Eyed as Cause: Police
Police are investigating whether a driver who was killed when his car plunged off a Westchester bridge early Wednesday was drag racing before the crash, authorities say.
The 21-year-old man, identified as Christopher Seguinot, of West Harrison, was headed north on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Dobbs Ferry in a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro at about 12:10 a.m. when the car went off an exit, smashed through a guardrail and flew off the Ashford Avenue Bridge, police say.
The car crashed into the ground more than 30 feet below, and the man was pronounced dead. A police spokesman said that speed was "definitely a factor" in the crash.
Seguinot was the only person in the car.
His uncle described him as a "good kid" who had dreams of becoming a state trooper.
The parkway’s northbound lanes reopened after several hours. The bridge remained closed. A bridge inspector was called to the scene to assess structural damage to the roadway.
