Woman walking in Queens critically injured in hit-and-run

A woman walking with her child in Queens was struck and critically injured yesterday by a motorist who fled the scene, police said. Witnesses said the woman was able to push her child to safety being being hit by the car. Police were able to track down the 23-year-old driver and arrest him shortly after the accident, which took place at Seagirt Blvd. and Beach 19th St. just before 1 p.m. She was taken to Jamaica Hospital. He was being held pending charges.
