One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash that occurred in southwest Franklin County Friday morning.

An 18-year-old Pleasant Township man died this morning after his car crashed into a utility pole.
One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash that occurred in southwest Franklin County Friday morning. According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, David V. Denega, 18, was driving a 2002 Mini Cooper eastbound on Bausch Road, just east of Alkire Road, in Prairie Township, when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole. Denega was transported to Doctor’s West Hospital where he was pronounced dead. There were no other occupants in the vehicle at the time of the crash. According to witnesses at the scene, no other vehicles were involved in the crash. Speed appears to have been a factor in the crash. The crash occurred at 8:30 a.m. Friday, according to deputies.
