Rojas pleads guilty in crash that killed 2 Springfield teens

The driver in a crash that killed two Springfield teens and lead investigators on a lengthy search after he ran away pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide. Rojas previously told the News-Sun he lost control of the vehicle on a curve on Old Columbus Road and over corrected. The charge includes a specification that Rojas was driving on a suspended license at the time of the April 7 crash, Saunders said. While on the run, Rojas cut and dyed his hair and reportedly hid out in stores and restaurant bathrooms in Springfield. Rojas ran from the scene of the fatal crash on Old Columbus Road in Springfield Twp. in the early morning hours of April 7 and hid from investigators for nearly two weeks before he was arrested at a local hotel.

Rojas admits guilt in Old Columbus Road crash

Angel Rojas has pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated vehicular assault in the April 7 crash on Old Columbus Road that left two people dead and two people injured. A Clark County grand jury indicted Angel Rojas, 19, on Monday on two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count of aggravated vehicular assault. The speed limit is 40 mph in that section of Old Columbus Road. Tristin K. Sherman, 18, a senior at Springfield High School, and Juan S. Compton, 21, were pronounced dead at the scene of the April 7 crash on Old Columbus Road. Rojas has been accused of fleeing the scene after he lost control of a 1997 Nissan traveling west in the 3100 block of Old Columbus Road and crashed into a utility pole about 1:45 a.m.

Driver sought in fatal crash convicted before of suspended license

The 19-year-old Springfield man troopers are seeking in connection with a fatal crash that killed two Springfield residents Tuesday has been convicted at least three times of driving under suspension in the past 18 months.
Angel Rojas, 19, was driving a car with four other passengers on Columbia Avenue when he somehow lost control of the vehicle, departed the roadway, and struck a utility pole. The collision killed two of the backseat passengers, identified as Tristin Sherman, 18, and Juan Compton, 21, who were pronounced dead at the scene. The other backseat passenger, Devin B. Moore, 19, has been hospitalized with serious injuries, while Ashley N. Predmore, 18, sustained minor injuries. Though police have confirmed the identity of the driver, Rojas has still not been found, and has been asked to turn himself in.
