City Hall 'stunned' over death of Amanda Fritz's husband in crash
The massive crash along Interstate 5 at Salem hit Portland City Hall hard Wednesday, when news surfaced that Commissioner Amanda Fritz's husband was killed in the collision.
A small pickup was heading northbound on I-5 in heavy rain conditions when it collided with a commercial vehicle. The pickup then crossed the median where it collided head-on with a vehicle driven by Steven Fritz, who was declared dead at the scene. A 64-year old female passenger, whose identity has not yet been released, was critically injured. The pickup driver was transported to a hospital in Salem with unknown injuries.
Fritz's zebra-striped Sentra, known by its "ZENTRA" license plate and distinct paint job, was recognized by several people after pictures of the crash emerged.
