Kane High student killed in Ludlow accident

Police said none of the three occupants of the pick-up truck were wearing their seatbelts. A police report also states that Yasurek was not using a cell phone at the time of the accident, nor was one present.
Tragedy struck Ludlow on Saturday, as a motor vehicle crash claimed the life of a Kane Area High School student. Kane-based state police trooper Frederick W. Burns III said the crash occurred at 5:44 p.m., when a pick-up truck operated by Dylan Yasurek, 18, of Ludlow, was traveling southbound at a high speed on Gibbs Hill Road in Hamilton Township. Police said Yasurek drove his 2001 Ford Ranger onto the west berm, causing the pick-up truck to slide across the road and the east berm and hit a tree, killing Tristan Sauers, 18, of Ludlow. Yasurek, along with a second passenger, a female minor from Endeavor, sustained minor injuries, according to police. Police said Sauers and the minor had to be extricated from the vehicle. Yasurek was able to leave the vehicle by his own means. McKean County deputy coroner Samuel Cummings Jr. said Sauers’ cause of death was blunt force trauma. Cummings said Sauers died instantly. Police said none of the three occupants of the pick-up truck were wearing their seatbelts. A police report also states that Yasurek was not using a cell phone at the time of the accident, nor was one present.
