PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Pictures and candles are a somber representation of a fiery crash early Sunday morning that killed three women. A man says his brother was killed 13 years ago after hitting a tractor-trailer illegally parked near the same spot. It was traveling so fast that investigators say it temporarily became airborne before hitting a parked tractor-trailer. Stephanie Williams, a friend of one of the victims says, “Gia I knew from my friend’s little sister. I pass by this every morning, so I just wanted to pray, pray for the families.” It is a treacherous stretch of roadway, made worse by what investigators say was the illegal parking job by the tractor-trailers.

She died, as the two passengers in her vehicle. “She was everything… everything,” says Joseph Barton, “she was my best friend, we did everything together.” Barton says he met Amonie when she was 13.

The driver and two passengers were driving in Holmesburg on Rhawn Street around 3 a.m. when the driver lost control of the car and crashed head-on into a parked tractor-trailer. Witnesses called 911. When police arrived, both the Chevrolet Camaro and tractor-trailer were on fire. At least one witness tried to free the people trapped inside the burning vehicle but wasn’t able to.

When the vehicle crossed Rhawn Street the driver lost control, the vehicle then spun and slammed into a parked tractor trailer.
