Police had a portion of the Interstate near where the crash occurred shut down for a couple hours. It was re-opened just before 4 a.m., according to the department's Twitter posts.

Authorities with the Charleston Police Department say a pedestrian, later identified as 23-year-old Carson Neymoss, was struck by a motorist and then thrown over the guard rail. He died at the scene from his injuries.

Allen Lee Gilliam Jr., 34, of 2520 Atlantic Palms Lane, North Charleston, was granted a $100,000 bond, according to Charleston Police Department spokesman Charles Francis.
A 23-year-old Charleston man, identified as Carson Neymoss, was walking on Interstate 26 was hit and killed Sunday morning by an alleged drunk driver. The pedestrian was thrown over the guard rail and died at the scene. The driver who struck Neymoss has not yet been publicly identified, but was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The driver has been charged with felony DUI.
